This fast growing field is on the leading edge of technology. Although analyzers have been used for many years there are many new and exciting products now under development. These devices range from large laboratory apparatus to small hand held bedside devices. They monitor blood gas (Oxygen level for critical care, cardiac patients), Blood chemistry (Glucose, Group analysis, Microbiology, DNA, Cholesterol) and disease (HIV, cancer, etc.).
Historically, samples were sent out to labs and results could take up to several weeks to process. New devices can now provide results right at a patient´s bedside.
