New Grain Moisture Meter From GE Sensing
Billerica, Mass. USA – May 25, 2007.
Following its success in Europe, GE Sensing’s Grainmaster “i,”is being introduced into North America, providing growers and merchants with an instrument that measures moisture and temperature of a wide range of grain crops.
The Grainmaster
“i” offers simple, fast and reliable moisture measurement and
features 15 pre-programmed crop calibrations, including wheat, barley,
oats and canola, as well as soya. Each calibration can be adjusted
to match other moisture-measuring instruments, which will help avoid
moisture-reading discrepancies between grain sellers and buyers. The
availability of an integrated moisture and temperature measurement
probe with the instrument allows growers more reliable control of
grain storage to ensure that crop quality is optimized.
In standard moisture-measurement mode, a crop sample is ground in the instrument’s integrated grinder compressor, and its moisture is displayed on a digital display. As the moisture measurement is based on the ground grain method rather than the whole grain method, more reliable readings are obtained on freshly harvested and dried grain. To achieve rapid measurements in bulk, floor and bin storage, a range of complementary temperature and moisture probes is also available.
“In essence, this integrated, systematic approach to moisture and
temperature measurement reduces the number of different instruments
that are required to measure
moisture and temperature in crops, during and post-harvest,” says
Chris Ranwell, Global Product Manager at GE Sensing. “Furthermore,
the increased accuracy of the Grainmaster “i” should help to give
growers greater confidence in assessing the value of their crops.”
