GE’s High Performance 1500 Series Pressure Sensor Provides Low Cost Solution for High Volume Applications

Billerica, Massachusetts, October 13, 2005— GE Sensing, a leading provider of precision pressure sensors and related test/calibration instruments, offers the Druck 1500 Series of industrial pressure sensors that provide cost-effective and reliable solutions for the most demanding, high-volume applications.

Designed for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and large-scale users with ranges up to 138 bar (2000 psi), the Series 1500 sensor is based on a field-proven piezoresistive silicon sensor and advanced ASIC compensation technology yielding inherently accurate and reliable pressure measurements.

"We’ve basically developed the 1500 Series to provide customers in the high volume, low-cost application space with a superior solution while delivering the same highly-accurate, rugged technology Druck silicon pressure sensors have been know for," said Shaun Collins, product manager at GE Sensing. "Customers who need a pressure sensor for critical applications such as automotive and train braking, compression and refrigeration equipment, gas volume correction, and suspension systems, will realize the benefits of longer term calibration stability and excellent product performance that the 1500 Series delivers at a price comparable to conventional pressure sensor technology.

Excellent reliability and minimal cost of ownership is achieved by compliance with current environmental standards including NEMA 4X packaging, 200% proof/400% containment pressures and excellent long-term stability. Static accuracy of the 1500 series is better than ±0.25%FS BSL including effects of non-linearity, hysteresis and repeatability. Thermal accuracy is within ±1%FS over –10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F) and ambient operating temperature range is -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F). Process media can be any fluid/gas compatible with 316L Stainless/Hastelloy C276. No o-rings are used in the 1500 Series design, thus avoiding material-media compatibility issues that sometimes affect competitive models.

The 1500 Series Pressure Transmitter is a Druck product. Druck has joined other GE high-technology sensing businesses under a new name—GE Sensing.
