GE Introduces HumiTrac™ Relative Humidity and Temperature Transmitter

Billerica, Massachusettes, AUGUST 1, 2005 - GE Industrial, Sensing, a leading provider of precision sensing products, systems and services, introduces HumiTrac™, GE’s next generation relative humidity and temperature transmitter. The HumiTrac is designed to serve the building automation/HVAC market, as well as a wide variety of general purpose relative humidity monitoring applications. HumiTrac incorporates a host of innovations that truly bring value to the marketplace.

HumiTrac features a NIST-traceable, field-replaceable sensor tip module that allows the end user to replace the sensor on-site and maintain ±2% RH accuracy and NIST traceability. All calibration constants are stored in the EEPROM of the sensor module. This virtually eliminates the need for time- consuming and costly factory calibration, while reducing downtime during service intervals to near zero. HumiTrac uses a rugged capacitive sensor that provides full-scale 0-100% RH measurement with unsurpassed response times, linearity and stability. Recovery to condensation is excellent and an integrated filter, plus conformal-coated module electronics ensure long life.

HumiTrac is designed to be highly configurable in the field or at a distributor’s warehouse—by minimizing the necessary number of orderable configurations, GE reduces distributor inventory costs and provides maximum flexibility to the installer. All versions feature field-selectable outputs (0-5V, 0-10V, 4-20mA) and passive temperature versions incorporate both 3K and 10K ω thermistors. Signal-conditioned temperature versions are available scaled from 0 to 50°C or -40 to 60°C. Custom ranges are available upon request for high volume applications.

HumiTrac is designed to serve a global market—all configurations meet current CE standards for emissions and interference and feature a universal enclosure mounting that fits both North American and European installation footprints. Unsurpassed sensor performance, lowest cost of ownership in the market, maximum output flexibility in the field and a truly global design position the product at the leading edge of the marketplace in terms of price and features.
