GE Introduces DigitalFlow™Loop-Powered Clamp-On Flowmeter
Waltham, Massachusetts, March 31, 2004 - GE Infrastructure Sensing, a leading provider of precision sensing products, systems and services, announces its DigitalFlow™ UTX878 loop-powered, clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter.
The UTX878 features a patent-pending, low-powered design that requires as little as 60mW of power. The UTX878 achieves low power consumption through new ultrasonic transducer technology, which calls for less excitation energy than is needed for conventional transducers. At the same time, this technology produces exceptional, high-performing ultrasonic signals.
The UTX878 retains all the advantages of clamp-on flow metering—accuracy, reliability, ease of installation, no pressure drop and no calibration. "Customers have always wanted a loop-powered clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter because of installation simplicity and cost savings. The low-powered design of the UTX878 makes this possible," said Paul Ceglia, flowmeter product line manager for GE Infrastructure Sensing.
The UTX878 combines the straightforward design of loop power with the performance and full features of an advanced flowmeter. Its low-profile NEMA4X package has a 128 by 64 pixel LCD display for easy viewing of flow rate information. A six-button external keypad accesses the instrument program for verifying meter diagnostics. In addition, UTX878 transducers work for pipes ranging from one-half inch up to eight inches in diameter.
